Professor of Strategic Management at the Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid , he holds a Degree and Ph.D. in Economic and Business Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid (Extraordinary Award in the speciality of Business Economics). He has been a tenured professor at the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of La Rioja. Currently his preferred research fields are business diversification and portfolio restructuring, cooperation between firms, and the relationship between corporate social responsibility and strategy.

He has also collaborated in the book commemorating 25 years of the Spanish academic association ACEDE with a chapter on the research in Strategic Management in Spain.

He has participated in different academic conferences, among which the following might be highlighted: Asociación Científica de Economía y Dirección de la Empresa (ACEDE), European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM), European Academy of Management (EURAM), Academy of Management (AoM), Strategic Management Society (SMS), Sociedad Latinoamericana de Estrategia (SLADE), and the Iberoamerican Academy of Management (IAM). He has been the first president of the Strategy Division in ACEDE between 2008 and 2010. Between 2018 and 2020 he has been Vice-President and nowadays he is the President of the Spanish Academy of Management (ACEDE).

He has been Head of the Department of Business Organization at the Rey Juan Carlos University, Delegate of the Rector for the Development of the Strategic Plan of the Rey Juan Carlos University, Director of the Iberdrola Chair for Research in Business Management and Organization, and coordinator of the Business line of research in the PhD Program in Law and Social Sciences in the Rey Juan Carlos University. He currently chairs the Research Group Strategor on Corporate Strategy and other competitive research projects.

He likes to write short tales and has published two tales in "Cuentos para el andén": "A la plaza llega un camión lleno de jaulas" and "El homenaje". He has also published the tale "La libreta" in the book "Conjunta-mente" (Ed. Talleres de Escritura Creativa Fuentetaja, Madrid, 2017), "Dos céntimos de peseta" (Book of the I Certamen Relato breve y Poesía Sierra de Guadarrama, Ed. Maluma, 2018) and "Un cuadro realista", in the book "No traspase el cordón" (Sundry authors, 2018).
